Hello Parents and Youth Leaders, We want to welcome you to the first spiritual magazine generated by and for young adolescents. KidSpirit is firmly non-affiliated and rooted in the idea that we live in a pluralistic country in which the need for inclusive spiritual dialogue is urgent. We want the magazine to belong to the kids who create it. At the same time, we believe KidSpirit has the potential to stimulate meaningful inter-generational conversations. Parents, when you take a look at the magazine you may find yourselves wanting to spend some time with it too. Each issue of the magazine contains a variety of fun and thoughtful features that may spark lively dinner table discussions, and there's no shortage of thought-provoking topics to talk over with your kids. We have added a discussion guide to the web site for youth group leaders and teachers. We welcome your suggestions and ideas for topics and look to you to help shape the conversation. For those who'd like to engage a group of students in reading and writing for KidSpirit, please take note of our group subscription discounts for groups of ten and more. KidSpirit is a small non-profit, trying to offer an ad-free alternative for kids in a fast-paced consumer-driven culture. Many kids are amazed and delighted by the invitation to consider deep questions. Creating kid-driven content and thoughtful adult participation takes commitment. Kids all over the country have demonstrated such commitment, along with passion and curiosity. Please support us in any way you can, so that we can continue to provide this unique vehicle for kids. Give a gift subscription to your local library; donate a subscription to your child's school or youth group. Send us your funding ideas. Help us spread the word! |
"KidSpirit Magazine takes a nonsectarian approach to religions and their quests to deal with life's deep questions. More importantly, it makes it both interesting and cool for young people to grapple with such questions." —from Connections, a bulletin of the Council for Spiritual and Ethical Education |
